Dreifaltigkeitssäule

Die barocke Dreifaltigkeitssäule, eine Pestsäule, befindet sich an der Stelle des einstigen Prangers und wurde 1747 vom Korneuburger Kaufmann Johann Michael Jochinger gestiftet. 

Im Aufbau wiederholt sich die Zahl Drei: Die drei Statuen stellen die Heiligen Ägydius (Hirschkuh), Johannes d. Täufer (Lamm) und Jakobus d. Älteren (Pilger) dar; Ägydius ist Patron der Pfarrkirche, Johannes und Jakobus waren die Namenspatrone der Stifterfamilie (Vater Johann und Sohn Johann Jakob). Zwischen den Heiligenfiguren sind drei Reliefs zu sehen mit der Darstellung (1) der Flucht der hl. Familie, (2) der Pestheiligen Sebastian, Rochus und Rosalia und (3) vermutlich der Heiligen Franziskus, Anna und Elisabeth. Darüber sind die drei Erzengel Gabriel, Michael und Raphael und als Abschluss die Krönung Marias durch die Heilige Dreifaltigkeit dargestellt.

Die lateinische Inschrift auf der Säule ist ein Chronogramm: Die hervorgehobenen Buchstaben sind römische Zahlzeichen und ergeben addiert die Jahreszahl 1778.

TRINITY COLUMN

The Baroque Trinity Column, a plague column, is located on the site of the former pillory and was donated by the Korneuburg merchant Johann Michael Jochinger in 1747. 

In the construction, the number three is repeated: The three statues represent the saints Aegydius (doe), John the Baptist (lamb) and James the Elder (pilgrim); Aegydius is the patron saint of the parish church, while John and James were the namesakes of the donor family (Father Johann and son Johann Jakob). Between the figures of the saints, we can see three reliefs depicting (1) the flight of the Holy Family, (2) the plague saints Sebastian, Roch and Rosalia and (3) probably the Saints Francis, Anna, and Elisabeth. Above this are the three archangels Gabriel, Michael, and Raphael and, as a conclusion, the coronation of Mary by the Holy Trinity is depicted.

The Latin inscription on the column is a chronogram: the highlighted letters are Roman numerals and add up to the year 1778.
